Asian Koel

A pair of Asian koels stopped by the Norfolk Island pine today, as if sensing that I was waiting to complete my bird watching experience before we move.

I managed to get a cell phone photo of one, but it doesn't do justice to the majesty of these birds, a kind of large cuckoo with an amber-red eye and a haunting call.
