True went to his high school prom on Friday. He had asked a beautiful girl to go with him.

The American prom has its roots in the 19th-century debutante ball, when wealthy young women were introduced to society — and to potential suitors. 'Prom' is short for 'promenade,' the slow walk that debutantes did at the coming out ball.
