Tiananmen Walk


I went to Tiananmen Square this weekend as the weather was nice. I hadn't been on the square for years, even though I see it frequently. It hasn't changed much, though security has tightened significantly. Everyone entering the square must now pass through narrow security gates where bags are screened.

The picture above is of Zhengyangmen (Righteous Sun Gate) at the south end of the square and its watchtower further south. They are popularly called Qianmen, or Front Gate.
