Ai Weiwei

The executive editor is visiting so one of the reporters arranged for us to visit Ai Weiwei, the famous Chinese artist, at his studio home on the outskirts of Beijing. He is a gentle soul and was a gracious host.

He takes selfies of himself with all sorts of people. Who knows where the pictures go.

It was a very inspiring visit - not least because the space he lives and works in was built for just $30,000.

He gave us each a couple of his famous hand-painted ceramic sunflower seeds as a souvenir. I asked him to sign the paper that came with mine.

This is a picture from the Internet of his installation at the Tate Modern gallery in London where he covered a gallery floor with 100 million of the ceramic seeds.
