Atlantic Theater Company

We drove Sky in to the city to put his belongings in storage where he can retrieve them when he moves into his dorm later this month. Then we went to see his acting studio in Chelsea.

Here he is at the entrance to the building where the Atlantic Theater Company has its space. It is a massive Art Deco building - the third largest building in Manhattan today measured by floor area.

The building was built by the Port Authority of New York in 1932 as a warehouse and transshipment depot for cargo coming and going between the Hudson River piers and the city's various railroads and trucking lines.

The building is now owned by Google, though they have not yet been able to break the leases of the other tenants.

The elevator lobby is decorated with this wonderful wall of vintage New York City postcards.

Columbia University's Low Library is at the top center, Grant's Tomb is below it - both are places from my past.

The Atlantic Theater Company is on the fifth floor. Sky led us inside.

He asked that I not embarrass him with my camera, though.

He was there to pick up an evaluation by his teachers. He seemed pleased with the results.

After, as we were hungry, we decided to eat at the Old Homestead Steakhouse around the corner. It is a place that I've always been curious about.

The cow has been hanging above the door for as long as I can remember. The restaurant has seen better days, but steak is steak.
