A recent day.

Blue is clear air, dark red has high concentration of fine particles smaller than 2.5 microns in diameter and small enough to slip through the body's filtration systems to reach the lungs. Dust across the Sahara is one source, but the worst place on earth is around Beijing where it is mostly manmade.
