Temple Street

Anna and I spent Saturday night walking around the Temple Street neighborhood in Kowloon.

There are all sorts of culinary surprises for sale there. These are cups of mixed jelly, one side with snow fungus in it. We couldn't figure out what was in the purple side.

The area is old by Hong Kong standards. This is a typical street scene.

We passed a congee restaurant. The kitchen was on the street. Congee is rice porridge to which you add all sorts of things. This is the vat of bubbling congee.

The various things you add were piled on a cart beside the bubbling congee. There were all kinds of meats, including frog legs in the orange bowl.

We had already eaten so only bought drinks at another place. Anna had coconut milk with black, grass jelly beads.
