After a very busy day, we decided to decorate the Christmas tree. It had been delivered earlier in the week from a potted-plant nursery that operates out of the old colonial cemetery in Happy Valley, across the road from the Hong Kong horse racing track. We bought our trees from the same place when Sky was a baby.

True discovered, to his delight, that he was tall enough to put the star on - the first year that he has managed it.

Anna and I had gone earlier in the day to fetch the decorations from storage in an industrial neighborhood called Aberdeen, near where the original Hong Kong settlement once stood.

Anna was busy with her new job and Sky was deep in his homework, so True and I did the decorating.

When we were done, True went to get Anna and led her into the room with her eyes closed.

She was duly impressed.

True clapped, as he is wont to do when delighted. So the season has begun.
