Easter Outing

I spent Easter weekend as the guest speaker at a company outing with our Chinese partner. We stayed at a place in the hills north of Beijing called the Goose and Duck Ranch, a collection of rather rough buildings that constitute a kind of rustic holiday village. I'm told these now exist all over China. We ate goat roasted over a fire.

The trip was arranged by a local tour company and we were accompanied by a guide. He promised us that we were going to visit the 'most beautiful' spot along the Great Wall. The picture above was taken where the bus let us off.

The beautiful spot turned out to be a reservoir that had submerged a small section of the wall. We walked around the reservoir.

Then we all got in little boats to paddle around.
