Latin Quarter

On Sunday, Sky and I went for a walk in the Latin Quarter. It was a beautiful day. We saw the spot where the revolutionary leader Danton's house once stood and the building where the carpenter Schmidt built the first guillotine.

We stopped for hot chocolate and coffee in Le Procope, Paris' oldest cafe. Robspierre often met there while planning the terror he wrought on the city and Benjamin Franklin sat there in his coonskin cap while drawing up the Franco-American alliance that helped win the Revolutionary war.

It was a nice historical reference, but the service was slow.

Later, we met Anna and True.

We wandered around the crowded narrow streets of the Latin quarter and finally stopped for fondue at an outdoor restaurant.

It was a touristy place, but for what we wanted it turned out to be excellent.

We had both meat and cheese fondue. The cheese fondue was made with cider instead of wine, so the kids loved it.

Afterward, True ordered chocolate fondue. Sky decided to wait and have gelato later.

The chocolate fondue was wonderful.

True and I ate it, dipping all sorts of fruit into the chocolate.

True loves chocolate.

He ate a ton.

Then we wandered the streets some more and eventually took the bus home to watch the Music Man. It was a great day.
