A Birthday

It was my birthday today.

Anna and the boys made it a wonderful day. Anna got tickets to a very popular exhibition at the Luxembourg Museum.

The show was of paintings by Arcimboldo.

It was fascinating.

Afterward, we walked over to Saint Germain des Pres. We went into the church while we were waiting for the restaurant that we had planned to eat at to open.

The restaurant was l'Entrecote and when it opened we had a wonderful meal of steak, salad and fries (and wine for me). The restaurant only serves that and so the service is amazingly fast.

We went to Amarino, an Italian gelataria, for dessert. I had a small cup of amarena (black cherry), stracciatella (chocolate chip) and creme caramel.

Then we went home to watch the Rugby World Cup semi-finals. France was playing England and the entire nation, practically, was tuned in. Alas, France lost.

We took a break during the game to have the cake Anna had baked.

The boys were very happy.

Sky took this picture.

And this one.

It was a yellow cake with chocolate icing. It was as perfect as a cake can get.
