Viking Day

True's grade held it's Viking Day celebration, culminating their study of the fierce tribes. Sky had Viking Day when he was in fourth grade, so it was an event eagerly awaited by True.

The kids make their own brooches, apparently an essential accessory in the Viking world, and make their own shields. The rest is patched together from stuff they find at home. I thought True looked very smart, as Vikings go.

The great joy of Viking Day is eating like a Viking.

I overheard True encouraging his neighbor to make a mess, because they were Vikings and Vikings didn't care about being neat.

Nevertheless, after a couple of chicken legs, I spotted him quietly going in search of a napkin.

Anna was among the servants.
