Thanksgiving

We had Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday night at our neighbor's apartment. It was a great feast. The family is French but they have taken American citizenship and own a house in Vermont.

On Saturday, Anna made a turkey dinner for the family. We had invited a couple but they couldn't make it. In the end, it was a blessing as the turkey we had ordered and set on the sill overnight went bad (Anna blamed it on global warming) and we had to get a replacement from the butcher.

True and I went to pick it up. It was the only turkey the butcher had left and the only butcher open on a Saturday afternoon in our neighborhood. When True and I arrived, the butcher held it proudly up (feathered tail, neck, head, legs and feet) before preparing it for us, chop, chop, chop.

It was just the right size for the family, but would have been a bit small if we had had two more adults.

It was delicious. Everything was.

Afterward, we went for a walk down to Trocadero to watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle.

Sky went in search of ice cream, but there was none. The season had passed.

True, of course, ordered a Nutella crepe.

It was fresh, which isn't always the case.

He was happy.

Then we walked home. It was a nice, quiet day.
