Morning Sky

These pictures were taken last Saturday morning, the day we left for the "campout." True was still sleeping but Sky had to get up to go to his rehearsal. I took the pictures because I want to remember what the boys are like in the morning.

Sky always wakes up at once, sitting up from his bed as soon as he's called, seemingly already wide awake. He sleeps on the top bunk of a bed Anna had made in China.

Anna opens the drapes and steel shutters and this morning, because it was a beautiful morning, I opened the window. Then he gets down, front first for some reason.

He stands and scratches and yawns. We bought the white wicker rocking chair in Hong Kong just before Sky was born, to give Anna something to sit in while she held the new baby. The white dog in the background was given to him as a birthday gift by Mr. Xu, our driver in Shanghai. Anna bought the rug near the window in Xinjiang, in western China. The rug on which Sky is standing is from Tibet. Anna bought it in Beijing.

Then Sky heads for the bathroom. I actually took a discreet picture of him in there, but will spare him the humiliation of my posting it on the Internet.

Meanwhile, Anna is down the hall, in the kitchen, getting breakfast.

Sky heads that way.

Anna made French toast. Despite living overseas, the boys consume an enormous amount of maple syrup, always have. This brand comes from Canada.

Sky read an Asterix comic book. Asterix is about a comical tribe of Gauls who are always outwitting the Romans.

It was a peaceful breakfast before a big day.
