Outside of Basra

This was taken on the morning that Basra fell. We were at a former Iraqi army base waiting for clearance to visit a building on the base that housed a large amount of human remains. Some soldiers were showing me the telescopic sites on their M4 carbines.

We were never allowed in because the U.S. military flew in reporters from Kuwait instead. We returned to the front just as the city fell.
